How to Set Up a New Payroll Account

Overview

Learn how to set up your Myaccountant Payroll account either through the guided Account Setup Assistant or by entering your business details manually.

You can set up your payroll account using either:

  1. Using Account Setup Assistant (Recommended)
  2. Manual Setup

Option 1: Account Setup Assistant (Recommended)

1. Enter your ABN and click Validate. Your business name will populate automatically if the ABN is valid. To change the ABN, click the Clear button and enter a new one. (Note: if you do not have ABN, click on Skip).

2. Complete your business address and click Next.

3. Enter your bank account details, including Account Name, BSB, Account Number, and Bank Name. These details are required if you'll be using our Super Clearing House (Beam), for example, to receive refunds of unpaid super contributions.

4. You'll now see your 10-digit Software ID and Software Provider Name. Make a note of this, you'll need to register Myaccountant with the ATO before you can lodge STP (Single Touch Payroll) submissions.

5. Check your ATO Branch Code and update it if needed.

6. Click Next, then select your pricing plan to complete the setup.

Option 2: Manual Setup

1. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Settings.

2. From the side menu, go to Business and click Edit. Enter your Business Name and Address, then click Update.

3. Select the ABN option from the side menu. Enter your ABN, click Validate, confirm your business details, then click Save.

4. Go to Bank Details and enter:

  • Account Name
  • BSB
  • Account Number
  • Bank Name

5. Select ATO Settings from the menu.

  • Here you'll find your 10-digit Software ID (needed to register with the ATO for STP reporting).
  • You can also review and update your ATO Branch Code if required.

Useful Tips:

  • The Account Setup Assistant is the fastest way to get started, especially if you're new to payroll.
  • Be sure to register your Software ID with the ATO before your first STP lodgement.
  • You can return to Settings anytime to update or review your business information.
