How to set up your practice account

Overview

After signing up as an accountant, the next step is to complete your practice setup. This guide shows you how to enter your business details, ABN, Tax/BAS agent details and bank information so you're ready to manage clients and subscriptions.

You can set up your practice account using the PracticeSetup Wizard or by entering details manually from the settings menu.

Option 1: Using the Practice Setup Wizard

  1. After logging in, you'll be taken to the Practice Setup Wizard.
  2. Enter your ABN, then click Validate.
    • Your business name will populate automatically once the ABN is verified.
    • To change the ABN, click on the Clear button and re-enter it.
  3. Enter your business address and click Next.
  4. Add your bank details, including:
    • Account Name
    • BSB 
    • Account Number
    • Bank Name

These details will be used if you’re using theSuper Clearing House (Beam), otherwise click Next to move on.

  1. Enter your Tax/BAS Agent Number.  Here you’ll now see your 10-digit Software ID — note this down for linking your practice account with the ATO.
  2. Click Next to proceed to plan selection and complete your setup.

Option 2: Manual Setup via Settings

  1. From the top right menu, click the three-dot icon and choose Settings.
  2. In the left menu, go to Business, then click Edit.
    • Enter your business number and address, then click update.
  3. Next, select ABN, enter your ABN, click Validate, and then Save.
  4. Select Bank Details in the menu and complete:
    • Account Name, BSB, Account Number, Bank Name
  5. Select ATO Settings to:
    • Enter your tax/ BAS agent number
    • Verify your software ID or ATO registration
    • Verify or update your Branch Code.

Useful Tips:

  • You can revisit or update your details anytime in the Settings menu.
  • Don’t forget to complete your ATO registration with the Software ID before lodging pay runs for your practice and your clients.
